ISO 19443 Nuclear Quality Systems Auditor

Location: Open to Any Remote Work Location in United States

HSB is a specialty insurer and accredited certification body with a long history of supporting quality, safety, and risk management across critical industries. We are seeking an experienced quality, engineering, manufacturing, or nuclear industry professional to join our Management Systems Certification team as a Nuclear Quality Systems Auditor.

In this role, you will perform audits of organizations supplying products and services to the nuclear industry, evaluating quality management systems against ISO 19443 and related certification requirements. You will work with manufacturers, fabricators, engineering organizations, service providers, construction organizations, and other suppliers supporting the global nuclear supply chain.

Successful candidates will be trained and qualified as ISO 19443 Lead Auditors in accordance with HSB qualification requirements and accredited certification program standards.

The ideal candidate combines technical industry experience, quality management knowledge, auditing capability, and strong customer-facing communication skills.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct management system audits in support of certification, surveillance, recertification, transfer, and special audit activities.
  • Plan audits, develop audit agendas, and coordinate audit activities with customers and audit team members.
  • Evaluate quality management systems for conformity, effectiveness, and implementation of applicable standards and certification requirements.
  • Assess management system processes including leadership, risk management, safety culture, supplier controls, procurement, design control, corrective action programs, and operational processes.
  • Gather and evaluate objective evidence through interviews, document reviews, and observation of activities.
  • Prepare audit reports and document audit findings in accordance with HSB and accreditation requirements.
  • Present audit conclusions and findings to customer management during opening and closing meetings.
  • Review and verify corrective actions associated with audit findings.
  • Make recommendations related to certification decisions based on audit evidence.
  • Serve as a professional representative of HSB while developing and maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Maintain auditor qualifications and technical competency through training, qualification activities, and continuing professional development.
  • Participate in witness audits, training activities, technical reviews, and continual improvement initiatives supporting HSB certification programs.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma required.
  • Associate's degree in a technical discipline (Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Quality Management, or US Naval Nuclear Power School an equivalent.
  • 5 years general experience (Mechanical Engineering, Design, Boiler/Plant Operations, Site Construction, Manufacturing, Fabrication, NDE, Inspection or Quality Assurance).
  • 2 years' nuclear industry experience including Quality Management and auditing Quality Management Systems.
  • Preferred 1 year experience in ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems and or 1 year experience with 45001 Occupational Health and Safety
  • Experience in nuclear pressure equipment (with desired nuclear experience in materials, site activity, inspection, testing, and engineering services).
  • Sales and business management experience preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Working knowledge of ISO standards
  • Excellent communications skills and technical writing
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and team skills including customer interaction in person, by phone, or email in support for audit team tasks
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and schedule time with minimal supervision and direction
