What You'll Do

As a Health Information Management Specialist II, you will:



  • Obtains, reviews, and validates medical records and supporting documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy,
    and proper patient identification.
  • Proactively researches and secures incomplete medical record information to facilitate clean claim submission
    utilizing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) access, technology support software, requests for information, and
    traditional medical record retrieval methods.
  • Reviews and accurately indexes documents to ensure proper placement within paper or electronic health records.
  • Applies critical thinking and sound judgment to perform key job responsibilities, including medical record retrieval,
    document classification, issue resolution, and process improvement opportunities within established guidelines.
  • Performs comprehensive pre-scan validation of new claims and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy,
    timely processing, and appropriate revenue recognition
  • Analyzes patient care records and supporting claim documentation to identify and resolve pending claims within
    BCS, escalating complex issues as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to obtain timely and complete medical records, identify
    documentation gaps, and support revenue cycle and reimbursement processes.
  • Applies general medical necessity requirements as stated in the LCD policy article for Breg's core products.
  • Applies specialized knowledge related to the secure storage, retrieval, review, analysis, and processing of healthrelated
    information in both paper and electronic formats while ensuring compliance with applicable privacy,
    security, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains and ensures Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance for patient medical
    records and personal health information (PHI).
  • Meets daily, weekly, and monthly objectives including claim processing, revenue, and achievement of scorecard
    expectations while maintaining a high level of productivity and upholding accuracy and quality controls.
  • Contributes to the development of Health Information Management (HIM) processes and procedures to ensure
    continuous quality improvement.
  • Supports all other medical billing and collection tasks as required
  • Performs administrative tasks to ensure efficient office operations, including but not limited to receiving paper
    claim documentation, scanning claims, tending to mail and overnight shipping, faxing, copying, filing, purchasing
    office supplies, and creating general correspondence.
  • Partners with leadership to support onsite accreditation readiness efforts, including compliance with Medicare
    and accrediting body standards, documentation requirements, and audit preparation.
  • May meet, greet, and assist patients, vendors, and visitors promptly, efficiently, and in a professional manner.
  • Responsible for behaving in a professional manner both internally and externally in relationships that positively
    impact the company's reputation and comply with the company's policies and practices. Responsible for being
    accountable and committed to demonstrating Breg's cultural beliefs and achieving the key results of the company.
  • Responsible for promoting Breg's culture within the organization using established tools such as storytelling,
    providing focused feedback, and recognition. The performance of the position is aligned with the culture of

What You Bring

* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* 3+ years of experience in medical billing or HIM related job duties required.
* Previous medical records experience, including EMR navigation, general billing knowledge, CPT and ICD-10 codes
required.
* Knowledge of standard medical terminology, basic human anatomy, orthopedic diagnoses, and medical record
format, content, and medical documentation order required.
* Knowledge of EMR systems and understanding of where various data points and clinical information is located
required.
* Computer proficient to include web browser/internet search, MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
capabilities. Technical competence includes the ability to learn new software and systems.
* Proficient in the use and operation of office machinery, telecommunications, and web-based tools.
* Ability to perform routine maintenance and basic maintenance of scanning equipment preferred.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm and professional.
* Ability to maintain consistent, regular attendance and punctuality.

Work Schedules include....

May include variable start/end times outside of the company's standard business hours of 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.

Compensation

Salary Range: $21.00-$25.00/hr. Actual compensation is determined by factors such as experience, skills, and business needs. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target range for new hire base salary/pay across all US locations. Actual pay is based on many factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographical location, work experience, skill set, relevant trainings and certifications, and business needs. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus.
