What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a Sr. Technical Program Manager for the EHS Design & Deploy team within Global EHS supporting Vehicle Engineering and manufacturing programs. In this role you will provide technical program leadership for all new project launches from an engineering standpoint covering equipment and line development from sourcing through design, build, acceptance testing, installation, commissioning and production ramp. You will drive manufacturing and vehicle program launches by integrating industrial automation, equipment controls and EHS technical risk gates into the critical path so new vehicle, energy, solar, Tera and AI programs hit launch milestones. You are accountable for scope, schedule and risk across concurrent launch programs partnering with Vehicle Engineering, manufacturing engineering, controls, factory engineering, facilities, quality, operations and Global EHS subject matter experts.
What You'll Do
- Own technical program execution for new project launches across the manufacturing equipment and line lifecycle from definition through production ramp
- Define and maintain launch program roadmaps, milestones and success metrics aligned to Vehicle Engineering and manufacturing project schedules
- Integrate launch requirements into vendor kickoffs, RFQ packages and design reviews across concept, preliminary, detail and final design stages
- Drive cross-functional execution with Vehicle Engineering, manufacturing engineering, controls, factory engineering, facilities, quality and operations and coordinate Global EHS SME inputs for hazard reviews, safety buyoffs and permitting
- Own equipment and process buyoff and handover including documentation, commissioning coordination and acceptance criteria through production handoff
- Track launch program status, surface risks early and drive mitigations with vendors, contractors and internal engineering stakeholders against applicable safety and environmental standards
- Report launch progress, blockers and recovery plans to all levels of management and build scalable program tracking processes across the global factory network
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical or Controls Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of technical program or engineering project management delivering large capital projects in manufacturing or industrial environments
- Experience leading manufacturing or vehicle program launches including new lines, products, factory areas or major equipment introductions through ramp
- Working knowledge of industrial automation including manufacturing equipment, controls integration, line bring-up and FAT/SAT
- Experience mitigating launch risk by integrating EHS, safety and compliance gates into phase-gate or milestone frameworks alongside EHS engineering partners
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams including Vehicle Engineering, vendors, contractors and internal engineering stakeholders through multi-workstream launch programs
- Proficiency with project management tools such as Jira or MS Project
- PMP or equivalent certification preferred
- Experience in automotive, battery, semiconductor or other high-volume automated manufacturing preferred
- Ability to work on the manufacturing floor including walking production areas and wearing required PPE
