HDR is currently seeking a Site Civil Engineering Team Lead for our Building Engineering Services Business Group located in Denver, CO. Our team is an integrated facility and infrastructure design team consisting of core services of Mechanical, Electrical, Structural and Site Civil Engineering. This person will be responsible for the design of facility-related sites in support of a variety of markets including Corporate/Commercial, Healthcare, Education, Municipal, Civic, Industrial, Sports & Recreation, and Mission Critical buildings and infrastructure. They will be expected to coordinate and work closely with a multidiscipline design team throughout the entire life cycle of projects from planning stages, through the development of construction documents, and construction administration. Experience in land development and the design of building related site civil (grading, utilities, storm drainage, stormwater management, and erosion control) is required. This individual should be self-motivated, collaborative, and possess strong leadership skills with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically sound designs.
In the role of Site Civil Engineering Team Lead we'll count on you to:

  • Develop civil engineering scope of work and budgets for proposals
  • Participate in the interview process for new work
  • Serve as the Engineer of Record on complex projects
  • Connect the civil team with resources, but internal and external
  • Define the direction of team growth and development Support individual team members in their desired career development
  • Advocate for individuals, the team, and the site civil business class
  • Collaborate with other HDR business groups and teams
  • Assist with community outreach as defined within the scope of a project Manage client meetings and correspondence
  • Author subconsultant agreements
  • Guide the design team through design calculations and the process of developing a plan set, details, specifications, and cost estimates (concept through construction documents)
  • Use engineering judgement to determine the best course of action
  • Be independent in your pursuit of information and solutions
  • Manage your time and organization of multiple tasks/projects
  • Communicate effectively with managers and team members
  • Appropriately manage your team's workload and future commitments
  • Pursue efficiencies within your work and operations
  • Mentor junior staff and delegate appropriate tasks
  • Be an advocate for HDR, the BES Business Group, and the Site Civil team
  • Perform other tasks that support the mission and vision of HDR and the BES Business Group

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering firm
  • Previous project management experience
  • Preference given to local candidates

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 7 years experience
  • Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Good leadership and organizational skills
