Responsibilities
The Environmental Services Tech (EVS) Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the hospital, including patient rooms, clinical areas, restrooms, offices, and public spaces. This role performs routine and specialized hospital cleaning, disinfection, sanitation, and floor care while following infection prevention, safety, and environmental standards. The EVS Tech may also provide guidance and on-the-job training to Housekeepers and less experienced team members.
- Perform daily cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfection of patient rooms, clinical areas, operating rooms, restrooms, offices, and public spaces in accordance with hospital and infection prevention standards.
- Respond promptly to cleaning needs, including patient discharges, terminal cleaning, spills, and other environmental services requests.
- Safely use cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, supplies, and equipment in accordance with established procedures.
- Perform floor care and maintenance using equipment such as buffers, burnishers, extractors, and auto scrubbers.
- Handle and dispose of regulated medical waste according to hospital, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Restock linens, paper products, cleaning supplies, and other designated items as needed.
- Identify and report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, equipment issues, and supply needs.
- Follow applicable infection control, OSHA, safety, health, and environmental standards and hospital policies.
- Provide guidance, support, and on-the-job training to Housekeepers and less experienced EVS staff as directed.
- Demonstrate professionalism and sensitivity when working around patients, visitors, and clinical staff while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
Qualifications
Preferred Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience with infection control cleaning protocols and terminal room cleaning
