Position summary:

Supervise and lead employees engaged in agglomeration and continuous mixer operations to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives. Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and operational procedures while developing employee capability and driving continuous improvements. This night shift supervisor's primary schedule will be 4:00 PM - 1:00 AM.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or related field.
  • High School Diploma or GED with equivalent with manufacturing leadership experience required

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum two years of manufacturing supervisory team leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of agglomeration, extrusion, continuous mixer, or similar manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven leadership and employee development skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to analyze production data and make effective operational decisions.
  • Competent computer skills with manufacturing systems such as MeSr, JDE, AS400, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to operate and interpret quality testing equipment and results.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Continuous Improvement, and Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
  • Excellent mathematical and reasoning skills.

Essential Duties

  • Lead and manage daily operations to achieve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost objectives.
  • Provide leadership and direction during critical production events, including startups, shutdowns, product transitions, and unplanned line stoppages.
  • Establish workforce plans and ensure adequate staffing, training, and resources to support safe and efficient manufacturing operations.
  • Hold Team Leaders accountable for execution of standard work, process compliance, production requirements, quality standards, safety expectations, and employee development.
  • Own shift performance metrics, including Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, Scrap, Downtime, and Labor Efficiency, and implement action plans to achieve department targets.
  • Analyze operational performance data and KPIs, identify performance gaps, and drive corrective actions to improve results.
  • Oversee quality systems, testing requirements, production documentation, and reporting activities to ensure compliance and product integrity.
  • Direct the management of raw materials, inventory transactions, pellet output reporting, and production records to ensure accuracy, inventory control, and operational effectiveness.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts related to process, equipment, material, quality, and production issues, utilizing root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
  • Partner with Maintenance to prioritize preventive and corrective maintenance activities, improve equipment reliability, and minimize downtime.
  • Schedule production time and allocate personnel, materials, and equipment resources to support engineering trials, R&D activities, process improvements, and new product development initiatives.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, process optimization, waste reduction, productivity enhancement, and cost improvement.
  • Train, coach, and develop Team Leaders and Operators to strengthen technical capability, leadership effectiveness, and succession readiness.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and make recommendations regarding hiring, promotion, disciplinary actions, compensation, and employee development.
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, and selection activities to build and maintain a high-performing workforce.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Logistics, and other functional teams to achieve operational and business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality and environmental management systems, regulatory requirements, safety standards, and housekeeping expectations.
  • Maintain accurate production, quality, inventory, attendance, and performance records.
  • Maintain awareness of departmental Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequent walking and standing throughout the work shift.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and elevated work platforms as required.

Work environment:

  • Non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Works on multi-floor mezzanine and elevated platforms.
  • Exposure to industrial equipment, noise, dust, and process materials.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts and extended hours as required.
