Starting Wage: $22.43 - $30.27 per hour, depending on level placement and experience

This is a temporary, limited-term, project-based position. Placement as a Facilities Technician I, II, or III will be based on your experience, technical knowledge, and demonstrated skill level.

While this position is not guaranteed to continue beyond the limited-term assignment, a permanent Facilities Technician opportunity may become available at or near the conclusion of the project, and the selected employee may have the opportunity to apply for available permanent positions.

What You'll Do

This is a hands-on role supporting maintenance, repair, remodeling, and facility improvement projects across Volunteers of America Oregon locations. Depending on your experience and skill level, your work may include:

  • General building maintenance and repairs
  • Carpentry, drywall, painting, and finish work
  • Plumbing and fixture repairs or installation
  • Basic electrical and building-system work within your demonstrated skill level
  • Appliance and equipment troubleshooting and repair
  • Preventative maintenance
  • Landscaping and exterior maintenance
  • Remodeling, construction, relocation, and facility improvement projects
  • Working alongside contractors, vendors, and other Facilities team members
  • Identifying maintenance needs and helping troubleshoot effective solutions
  • Maintaining safe, clean, and organized work areas

Technician II and III employees may also provide onsite guidance or technical direction to other Facilities team members based on project needs.

Who We're Looking For

We are open to candidates with a range of experience. You do not need to meet the qualifications of our highest technician level to apply.

Technician I: You have general knowledge or experience in maintenance, construction, landscaping, repair work, or a related trade. You are comfortable using common hand and power tools and are interested in continuing to develop your skills.

Technician II: You bring approximately three or more years of building maintenance or related experience, with demonstrated skills in areas such as carpentry, plumbing, landscaping, appliance repair, and use of hand and power tools.

Technician III: You bring approximately five or more years of broad building maintenance experience and advanced troubleshooting and repair skills across multiple building systems, which may include carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, appliances, and commercial equipment. Experience serving as a project or crew lead is also valuable at this level.

Regardless of level, we're looking for someone who can work independently and as part of a team, solve problems, adapt to changing priorities, communicate professionally, and take pride in completing quality work safely and efficiently.

Additional Requirements

Candidates must be able to:

  • Successfully complete required pre-employment screenings, including a criminal history background check.
  • Meet applicable OIG and SAM exclusion requirements.
  • Be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Travel locally between VOA Oregon facilities throughout the Portland metropolitan area. No overnight or out-of-town travel is required.
