Project Lead Engineer
The Opportunity
Hitachi Energy is looking for a Project Lead Engineer to join our growing Grid & Power Quality Solutions team in North America. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering innovative grid integration and FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) projects that help utilities increase transmission capacity, improve grid stability, and accelerate the global energy transition. In this role, you will serve as the technical leader and coordinator across multiple engineering disciplines, acting as the "glue" that brings together complex engineering activities into successful project execution. You will be a trusted technical partner to project managers, customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, overseeing the complete engineering scope from proposal through design, construction, commissioning, and project completion. You'll have the opportunity to work on large-scale, multimillion-dollar EPC projects involving transmission-level high-voltage systems and advanced power quality technologies. This position offers the chance to solve complex technical challenges, influence project outcomes, collaborate with global teams, and help shape the future of sustainable energy infrastructure. Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines. This hybrid position is based in the Raleigh/Cary, North Carolina area, with an expectation of working in the office two to three days per week and approximately 20% domestic and international travel. How You'll Make an Impact
As part of the hiring process, Hitachi Energy conducts pre-employment background checks that may include verification of employment history, education, criminal records, and other relevant information, in accordance with applicable laws. For certain roles, particularly those involving access to sensitive information, financial responsibilities, client data, regulated environments, or security-sensitive functions, additional or more comprehensive background or security screenings may be required. These may include, but are not limited to, enhanced criminal history checks, credit history reviews (where legally permissible), sanctions screening, or other due diligence measures aligned with the responsibilities of the position. The scope and depth of any background or security review will be determined based on the nature of the role and business necessity and will always be conducted in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws. Candidates will be notified and, where required, asked to provide consent prior to the initiation of any such checks. Apply now
