| Position Description: |
Tenure-track Assistant Professor, U.S. Women's History The History department at the University of Iowa invites applications for a position in U.S. Women's or Gender History at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin August 2027. We welcome applications in any era or area of specialization. The successful candidate must have a record of excellence in research and scholarship; be prepared to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in U.S. Women's History (including general education surveys and courses tailored to their own research specialization); and be prepared to engage in the programmatic missions of the department. Application materials should be submitted electronically to http://jobs.uiowa.edu (refer to requisition #76015) and include a letter of interest addressed to the U.S. Women's History Search Committee, a curriculum vitae, a substantial sample of written work, ideally the dissertation or book manuscript*, a 1-page teaching statement, a sample syllabus, and the names/contact information of three referees. Screening will begin September 15 and continue until an offer is made. The selected candidate must have the Ph.D. in hand by August 15, 2027. *If a file exceeds the attachment size limit, please submit to historydept@uiowa.edu. - First-rate scholarship in the field as evidenced by dissertation, book, or other publications
- Record of peer review as evidenced by fellowships, awards, or publications
- Demonstrated teaching effectiveness in a broad range of courses
- Potential to teach and advise graduate students outside U.S. Women's history, based on thematic strengths
