The main function of a logistics specialist is to coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments of an establishment according to production schedule. A typical logistics specialist is responsible for reviewing and distributing production, work and shipment schedules and compiling reports on inventory levels, cost, etc.
Responsibilities:
* Manage the end-to-end reverse logistics process from return request through final disposition and system closure.
* Monitor daily return volume, aging, backlog, exceptions, and service-level performance.
* Coordinate return transportation, warehouse receiving, inspection, grading, and disposition activities with SDS and 3PL partners.
* Ensure returned products are processed accurately and within established turnaround-time targets.
* Manage disposition flows, including return to vendor, refurbishment, resale, liquidation, recycling, and disposal.
* Analyze return reasons, operational failure patterns, and repeat issues to identify root causes.
* Develop and track corrective and preventive actions in partnership with internal teams and logistics providers.
* Drive initiatives to reduce return cycle time, handling cost, avoidable returns, and processing defects.
* Document and standardize operating procedures, controls, and escalation paths across return locations.
* Monitor return inventory accuracy, status, aging, and reconciliation between physical stock and system records.
* Identify opportunities to improve asset recovery and minimize financial loss from aged or improperly processed returns.
* Prepare weekly and monthly KPI reports, management summaries, and exception analyses.
* Analyze trends by product, customer, sales channel, warehouse, carrier, return reason, and aging bucket.
* Monitor SDS and 3PL performance against contractual requirements, SLAs, and operational KPIs.
* Present findings, risks, and recommended actions to management and cross-functional stakeholders.
* Escalate material service failures, compliance concerns, inventory risks, and financial exposure in a timely manner.
Requirements:
*Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
*1 - 3 years of experience in reverse logistics, returns management, warehouse operations, inventory control, or supply chain operations.
*Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills.
*Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas, and data analysis.
*Experience with SAP or another ERP system and familiarity with warehouse management systems.
*Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
*Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present issues and recommendations clearly. Preferred Skills:
* Experience in consumer electronics, retail, e-commerce, or high-volume distribution.
* Experience managing 3PL or 4PL logistics providers and conducting performance reviews.
* Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, CAPA, or other continuous-improvement methodologies.
* Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or similar reporting and analytics tools.
* Knowledge of inventory accounting, financial controls, claims, and audit requirements.
