Job Summary

The Technician, Chem-Ops supports product development projects for Sealed Air's Protective Care Business Unit. This role involves hands-on laboratory work with polyurethane systems and other experimental technologies.


Job Description

  • Support product development from concept to commercialization.
  • Conduct polyurethane chemistry and reactivity testing.
  • Perform physical property testing, including density and compressive strength.
  • Conduct transmitted shock testing to evaluate cushioning performance.
  • Evaluate machines and determine the best operating settings.
  • Perform additional laboratory testing as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Understand and apply chemistry, chemical reactions, and laboratory testing methods.
  • Work with Sales, Account Representatives, and Package Design teams to support customer needs.
  • Work with Systems Engineering, Supply Chain, and other product development teams.
  • Travel up to 10% for field trials, customer and supplier visits, meetings, training, and conferences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required. Candidates with a degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field are strongly preferred.

  • 0-3 years of experience in a chemical laboratory or similar environment.



  • Experience with polyurethane chemistry is preferred.



  • Strong attention to detail.



  • Good mechanical aptitude, math, and basic computer skills.



  • Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.



  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
