JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Penn State Abington has an immediate opening for a part-time Assistant Women's BasketballCoach. Penn State Abington is a member of the NCAA Division III and the United East Conference. This is a part-time opening that reports to the Head Women's Basketball Coach and the Director of Athletics.

Job Duties The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following functions: Coaching/Student-Athlete Experience:
  • The assistant coachis responsible for helping the Head Coach with organizing all aspects of thewomen's basketballprogram.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of, and ability to develop, sport skills, strategies and philosophy.
  • Promotes student-athlete welfare and provides appropriate mentoring to student-athletes.
  • Participate in team travel according to established policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicates within the Head Coach and within the department of athletics on matters pertaining to program.
Requirements and Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience in coaching at the college level or significant experience coaching at the high school or club level, or equivalent required and/or collegiate playing experience.
  • Ability to assist with recruiting outstanding student-athletes to a strong academic environment.
  • Ability to effectively teach and coach students in both a team and individual setting.
  • A commitment to being a positive role model and leadership with integrity.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with a wide variety of people in a manner that positively portrays the College.
  • Assist with the management of the team's commitment to NCAA and United East Conference regulations. Adherence to all NCAA, United East, and Penn State policies and procedures.

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).
