Collections Specialist Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Training Schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Work Arrangement: On-site during training, then Hybrid (2-3 days on-site, remaining days remote based on performance) Overtime: Available but not required Are you a motivated collections professional who thrives on problem-solving, negotiation, and driving results? We are seeking an experienced Collections Specialist to join a growing team focused on recovering outstanding balances while providing exceptional customer service. Position Overview As a Collections Specialist, you will manage a high-volume portfolio of business accounts, proactively contacting customers to collect outstanding balances, negotiate settlements, and resolve payment issues. The ideal candidate is resilient, self-motivated, and comfortable navigating challenging conversations while maintaining professionalism. Key Responsibilities * Make an average of 80+ outbound collection calls daily to recover past-due balances. * Manage a portfolio of approximately 200 to 600 accounts per week. * Handle inbound calls generated from collection email campaigns. * Contact customers via phone and email regarding outstanding balances. * Negotiate payment arrangements and settle accounts when appropriate. * Document customer interactions and account activity within the CRM system and spreadsheets. * Conduct account research and investigations to identify payment solutions. * Generate and submit daily activity and collection reports. * Maintain compliance with company policies and collection regulations. * Perform additional duties as assigned by management. Required Qualifications * Minimum 2-3 years of First-Party Collections experience with a strong emphasis on outbound calling. * Working knowledge of collection laws and regulations, including the FDCPA and its purpose. * Strong negotiation, investigation, and problem-solving skills. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to persuade customers and successfully collect balances over the phone. * Strong listening skills and the ability to navigate difficult conversations professionally. * Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote environment. * Strong multitasking and organizational abilities. * Ability to hardwire internet equipment when working remotely. Preferred Qualifications * Merchant services collections experience * Business-to-business (B2B) collections experience * Sales or negotiation experience * Experience using Google Workspace (Google Docs, Sheets, Gmail, etc.) Work Environment & Flexibility * Fully on-site for the first 1-2 months of training. * Upon successful completion of training and achievement of attendance, quality, and performance expectations, employees may transition to a hybrid schedule: * 2-3 days on-site * Remaining days remote * Candidates must be flexible to work the training schedule and rotating shifts during onboarding.
