The Automation Technician is responsible for the maintenance and operation of communication and SCADA systems, maintaining system performance, and coordination of Automation/SCADA projects with internal stakeholders while liaising with external vendors. This position will also perform root cause analysis and implement solutions for automation systems

Job Responsibilities:

Include but are not limited to

  • Work daily in a variety of facility controllers to install and/or troubleshoot logic.
  • Provide timely updates on special projects and system performance
  • Comply with all company safety, environmental, and operational policies and procedures. Identify and assess hazards associated with assigned work and implement appropriate risk mitigation measures.
  • Schedule and perform routine maintenance, preventative maintenance, and system updates on automation equipment.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence o of systems failures. Troubleshoot automation and instrumentation issues utilizing P&IDs, loop diagrams, and control narratives. Utilize knowledge of PLCs, instrumentation, communication systems, and automation equipment to support operations. Coordinate daily work activities with operations personnel, team members, contractors, and vendors. Attend all required safety and training meetings.
  • Participate in after-hours support, emergency response, and system upgrades as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • (5) years of I&E/ Automation experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Working knowledge of SCADA network architecture
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Able to satisfy insurability standards to drive a company vehicle

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Self-starter capable of performing with minimal supervision
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of PLC programming
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQLData Bases
  • Wide range of knowledge of a variety of automation controllers.
