Description

The final salary will depend on the candidate's qualifications. Those with 8 years or more of required experience can expect offers up to the midpoint of the salary range. Metra provides full pay ranges so candidates can consider their growth potential.

Metra is one of the largest and most complex commuter rail systems in North America, serving Cook, DuPage, Will, Lake, Kane, and McHenry Counties. The agency is linking communities in Northeastern Illinois by providing safe, reliable, and efficient commuter service.

The Marketing Department is responsible for marketing promotions and business development with internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting to the Marketing Content Manager, the Graphic Designer 2 position designs visual communications projects, consults with and advises internal and external partners on design and production projects, and maintains comprehensive directory of artwork files.

The primary duties include: Design and illustrates web graphics, creative briefs, storyboards, and video solutions to promote Metra's brand awareness, initiatives, and events. Design artwork for projects, prepare requirements, gather print production estimates and track print production for assigned marketing. Collaborate with internal and external partners on design and production of graphic, print, and video materials and develop compelling, stylistic visual concepts and mockups for marketing concepts, storyboards, and messages. Assist with overall print and design processes from concept to completion, including performing job intake, gathering design requirements, consulting with clients, creating designs and revisions, coordinating print production, approving payments, and tracking projects. Assist in generating innovative concepts, plans, content creation, and campaigns to increase ridership and foster public and customer feedback via digital and social media content. Maintain a comprehensive directory of artwork files on an internal server that follow naming conventions, branding standards, and digital file organization standards. Promote safe work practices and maintain and foster a safe work environment. Perform otherrelated duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, or a related field or in lieu of degree, a combination of education and experience may be substituted for the required degree that equals four years in graphic arts and design.
  2. In addition to #1, must have three years of experience in the graphic arts and design field.
  3. Good knowledge of principals, practices, and concepts of graphic design, printing methods, photographic techniques.
  4. Good knowledge of design software such as Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.
  5. Good computer skills using Windows and MAC operating systems, various types of cameras, and video equipment and software.
  6. Good knowledge of the methods and techniques of storing media, digital and computerized recordkeeping, and editing and material preparation.
  7. Good knowledge of project management and budgeting.
  8. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  9. Good analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills.
  10. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  11. Good design, motion graphic, video production, and photography manipulation skills.
  12. Ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret information and data and translate client needs into instructional and informational materials.
  13. Ability to troubleshoot problems and resolve production issues.
  14. Ability to work collaboratively with internal clients and external vendors.
  15. Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit, for extended periods of time.
  16. Must be willing to travel within Metra's 6-county region.
  17. Must be available to work flexible hours in the early morning, late afternoon, evenings, or weekends.
