Assistant Music Teaching Artist - Per Diem
Job Summary 92NY School Engagement in the Arts brings arts residencies, performances, and learning experiences to thousands of K-12 students and educators across New York City each year. We are seeking emerging music educators to support Discover Music and Percussion residencies in NYC public schools. This assistant role is designed for early-career educators who want to strengthen their teaching practice while working alongside experienced 92NY Teaching Artists. Assistants help with music activities, small-group support, materials, classroom engagement, and inclusive teaching practices under the guidance of Lead Teaching Artists. This position also serves as a professional development pathway toward future Lead Teaching Artist roles. Assignments may take place in Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Manhattan, with priority given to candidates available to teach in Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx. Job Responsibilities Include
Support Lead Teaching Artists during weekly music residency sessions in NYC public schools.
Experience, Education, & Skills Desired
Work Environment & Requirements Applicants should be available for professional development and planning meetings with 92NY staff in September/October 2026. Work takes place during regular school hours, 8:00 AM-2:30 PM, with occasional after-school hours, 2:30-5:00 PM, from October 2026-May 2027. Residency schedules are determined by school assignment.
