We're hiring for a position open to both Associate Estimator (P2) and Estimator (P3) candidates. The level will be determined based on the successful applicant's qualifications, experience, and demonstrated skills during the interview process.
Project Development Supports project manager (PM) and other project personnel in all phases of small- to medium-scale capital or operations and maintenance projects OR supports senior estimators in large scale capital, operations and maintenance or construction projects; contributes to planning for the efficient use of personnel, equipment, materials and subcontractors within schedule and cost. Manages all aspects of estimate development, including scope, schedule, cost, safety and quality, OR manages estimate development for specific phases or elements of large-scale projects; receives guidance and direction as requested from senior estimators on complex problems or situations. Ensures decisions result in a cost-effective, reliable, safe, constructible/maintainable project. Compiles and provides data used to evaluate and forecast project costs; develops additional resource forecasting documents used to outline resource needs. Assists with subcontractor evaluations, clarifications and pricing schedules. Prepares requests for proposals for subcontracted scopes of work.
Develop Requirements Assists project team in scoping of projects for engineering, construction and contractual requirements; gathers and analyzes proposals, drawings, specifications and related documents to identify labor, material and time requirements.
Prepare Estimates Works directly with engineers/project managers during all phases or assigned phases of projects to produce cost estimates, including during the preliminary, conceptual, 25-to-75-percent, prebid/preconstruction and change order phases. Computes costs by analyzing labor, material and time requirements; prepares estimates by performing takeoffs and calculating projected costs; prepares estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors; consults with vendors, personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
Budget Development Provides first-level classification of generating plant projects as capital or maintenance expenditure and the level of estimating/budgeting effort required. Supports the development of capital and major maintenance job budget; analyzes, edits and revises specific job budget requests; supports development of budgeting database. Provides budget analysts with forecasting detail and monthly variance explanations.
Financial Analysis and Control Analyzes financial reports and data to support cost-control programs; identifies variances, analyzes trends and prepares forecasts; makes recommendations to management and project engineers regarding job revisions and variances; researches and provides data to internal and external auditors as requested. Ensures departmentwide implementation of corporate and regulatory guidelines (APPDs, FERC).
