The Opportunity:

The Housekeeping Department within Facilities and Business Operations is seeking to hire a Custodial Specialist II to help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient campus environment. This role focuses on both routine and project-based cleaning, including deep cleaning, floor and carpet care, light pressure washing, and supporting work requests through the Integrated Work Management System (IWMS). The position also involves assisting with training new staff and requires strong attention to detail, independence, and technical skills.

Responsibilities:


  • Perform deep cleaning and restorative projects, including hard floor care, carpet cleaning, and pressure washing. Complete routine cleaning tasks for assigned areas in compliance with cleanliness standards established for Custodial Specialist I roles.

  • Utilize specialized cleaning skills for project work as directed by the supervisor, ensuring tasks align with process guides. Gather appropriate supplies and equipment for each project, such as those required for hard floor or carpet care.

  • Identify and submit work requests to address any deficiencies found during inspections or regular duties. Provide training and support to team members on Standard Operating Procedures, equipment operation, and safety protocols as needed.

  • Ensure the efficient operation of custodial equipment and supplies. Report inventory needs and maintain proper care of unit equipment. Stock supplies in designated areas according to delivery schedules to ensure smooth operations.


Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of 9th grade and 2+ years of relevant experience oran equivalent combination of education and experiencepursuant toFla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:


  • 2+ years of previous work experience in a custodial or similar role with a focus on floor care.

  • Knowledge of floor care process for hard surfaces including pressure washing, stripping, and restorative practices.

  • Ability to use small and large tools required for essential tasks (floor care equipment, mop/mop bucket, dust mop, broom, scrub pad, radio, etc.).

  • Proficiency with standard office software applications and devices for work order systems (IWMS).

  • Ability to communicate in conversational English to work effectively with customers and team members, operate electronic equipment (iPad for Integrated Work Management Systems PM checkpoints), comprehend standard safety procedures, and utilize telecommunication devices.

  • Adaptable to work assignments and flexible for urgent trade requirements.

  • Understanding of safety guidelines and able to use approved chemicals by Environmental Health & Safety to perform essential job functions.

  • Capable of operating a fleet vehicle as necessary.

  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.

  • Demonstrated capabilities in interpersonal skills, memory, attention to detail, calculation, reading, evaluating, comprehension, and organizing.


Health Assessment Required:

The UCF policy requires completion andpassing ofa physical exam for this position.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:

Position requires a valid Class E driver's license. This position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.

New hires selected for this position at the University of Central Florida can expect to be offered the base salary amount for the role. Compensation is determined in alignment with UCF's pay structure and internal equity considerations.

This position is eligible for 5% Shift Differential Pay of the pay range minimum.
