Senior Mechanical Engineer needed for an opportunity with SOC's client to work in Bridgeton, Missouri.

Responsibilities



  • Support mechanical design and integration tasks for assigned assemblies and interfaces based on system-level and component level requirements
  • Create/revise CAD models and drawings; ensure GD&T and documentation quality per standards such as ASME Y14.5-2009 and ASME Y14.100-2013
  • Execute ECOs and support CCB/configuration management processes
  • Troubleshoot prototype/test/production issues, lead root cause, and corrective action
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering team, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to implement fixes and improvements
  • Develop component designs that are optimized for various manufacturing methods, such as subtractive and additive manufacturing, investment casting, welding, brazing, forming/sheet metal techniques, and other relevant processes.
  • Report on engineering task performance against the program schedule using Earned Value methods (e.g., progress status, planned vs. earned, schedule variance) and communicate risks and recovery actions to the IPT lead/program team
  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel
  • Self-starter who can independently research and quickly build working knowledge using credible internet sources and approved AI tools/agents, then apply findings to engineering tasks with appropriate verification and documentation
  • Ability to work independently under supervision of others
  • Attend and participate in appropriate engineering or business meetings
  • Provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of mechanical design experience in an industrial, automotive, aerospace, or defense environment
  • Proficient with 3D CAD (Creo preferred) and creation of 2D drawings and released documentation
  • Working knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5, with demonstrated ability to interpret and apply on mechanical drawings
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to document analyses, dispositions, and engineering changes clearly

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficient with Creo Parametric - Pro Engineer - and Windchill (or equivalent CAD/PLM tools), including model/drawing release and configuration-controlled updates
  • Experience performing system-level integration and/or component-level mechanical design through development, build, and test, including requirements flow-down and interface definition
  • Experience conducting structured root cause and corrective action investigations (e.g., 5-Why, Fishbone, fault tree), documenting findings, and implementing fixes via engineering change
  • Experience designing and releasing custom fixtures and tooling to support test, evaluation, assembly, and manufacturing (including safety, ergonomics, and repeatability considerations)
  • Experience specifying, evaluating, and integrating supplier components/subsystems/services, including technical reviews, requirements/spec compliance, and support to make-buy decisions and supplier issue resolution

Employment Pre-requisites
