Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Technologist functions as a healthcare professional in the Cardiac Cath Laboratory during assigned shifts, performing advanced clinical duties while also leading projects and assuming specialized responsibilities as a routine part of the role. This position serves as the primary liaison between management, staff, physicians, and vendors, resolving routine operational and clinical issues and supporting technologists and ancillary staff to ensure exceptional patient care, adherence to standards of practice, optimal patient safety, quality outcomes, and customer service. Responsibilities include supporting staffing productivity through work scheduling and assignment distribution, conducting quality assurance audits, developing and implementing quality improvement initiatives, training and mentoring staff, providing feedback on performance and developmental needs, assisting in staff skill development and evaluations, leading special projects, and collecting, analyzing, and reporting performance data and metrics. The role also requires participation in a rotational call schedule alongside RT and RCIS staff, maintaining departmental compliance with TDSHS and TJC standards, and performing other duties of similar scope and responsibility as assigned.


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. 2 years prior Special Procedure and/or Radiographer experience required.

2. Advanced knowledge of cardiac catheterization, interventional procedures, and hemodynamic monitoring.

3. Membership in related professional organizations is preferred.

4. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.

EDUCATION / LICENSURE:

1. Graduate from an approved school in Radiologic Technology.

2. Currently licensed as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) in the State of Texas

3. Current ARRT Licensure (Technologists that are exempted from the ARRT certification must meet the requirement on Public Law 97-35.)

4. Non-Radiologic Technologist must have active certification with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as an (RCIS) Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist or (RCES) Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist.

5. Current certification in Interventional Angiography preferred.

6. Must have and maintain current BLS and ACLS certifications, according to unit specific needs. Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Provider's Program.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE

Interventional Angiography

* Trained in three of the four interventional specialties, including cardiac, peripheral, electrophysiology, and structural heart.

* Proficient in monitoring and documenting procedures using the hemodynamic recording system, with the ability to support coverage needs as required.

* Skilled in assisting proceduralists during invasive procedures involving various anatomical regions, from head to lower extremities.

* Familiarized with contraindications for contrast to ensure patient safety.

* Able to utilize critical thinking to ensure the proper procedure is being performed, ensuring all potential supplies are available prior to the procedure starting.

* Able to support inventory management processes, including ordering supplies, tracking backorders, and identifying suitable alternatives for discontinued items.
