American Express is undertaking a large-scale, enterprise-wide migration to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and the Tech Delivery team is seeking a FinOps Analyst to help drive financial governance, forecasting, and cost optimization throughout the cloud transformation journey. This role is ideal for candidates who bring a unique blend of financial management expertise and cloud technology knowledge. You will partner with technology, finance, and leadership teams to analyze cloud consumption, build forecasts, manage budgets, and provide actionable reporting that supports strategic decision-making across one of the company's most significant technology initiatives. Key Responsibilities Manage project financials for cloud migration initiatives, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cost tracking. Analyze cloud consumption trends and translate technical usage data into financial insights and budget impacts. Develop and maintain financial models that support cloud spend forecasting and capacity planning. Partner with engineering, infrastructure, and cloud teams to understand resource utilization and associated costs. Monitor actual versus forecasted spend and proactively identify risks, trends, and opportunities for cost optimization. Create executive-level reporting, dashboards, and presentations to provide visibility into project financial performance. Utilize advanced Excel capabilities to compile, analyze, and present financial and operational data. Support FinOps best practices, helping establish cloud financial management processes and governance. Collaborate with stakeholders across Technology, Finance, and PMO teams to ensure alignment on budgets and project objectives. Assist leadership in making data-driven investment decisions related to cloud migration activities. Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience in Cloud project financial management, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, or related functions (GCP preferred but any Cloud ok) Experience supporting FinOps, Cloud Financial Management Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and cloud consumption-based cost models. Ability to evaluate how cloud infrastructure usage impacts monthly and annual budget forecasts. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and reporting. Experience presenting financial data and recommendations to management and leadership teams. Preferred Qualifications Hands-on exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Experience working with enterprise cloud migration programs. Knowledge of cloud cost optimization strategies, resource planning, and capacity management. Familiarity with cloud billing, chargeback/showback models, and financial governance practices. Experience collaborating with engineering, infrastructure, or cloud operations teams.
