Description

As a Transmission Planning Engineer on our Expansion Planning team, you'll work alongside MISO members and industry stakeholders to develop transmission solutions that become part of the MISO Transmission Expansion Plan (MTEP)-one of the industry's most important long-term planning efforts.

In this role, you'll perform a variety of transmission planning studies and reliability assessments that help ensure the grid remains reliable as the energy landscape continues to evolve. Your work will include steady-state, transient, and voltage stability analysis, project reviews, compliance assessments, and technical support for a variety of planning initiatives.

Beyond the technical work, you'll have opportunities to improve planning processes, collaborate across multiple departments, mentor teammates, and help solve some of the industry's most complex transmission planning challenges.

Within your first year, you'll:

  • Build strong partnerships with MISO members and internal teams while supporting a successful MTEP planning cycle.
  • Contribute to steady-state and transient stability studies that support reliable system planning.
  • Take ownership of key NERC compliance responsibilities, including activities supporting standards such as TPL-001-4/5 and other applicable planning requirements.
  • Continue developing your technical expertise while contributing to projects that shape the future of the North American electric grid.

We're looking for someone with:

  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, or Electronics & Computer Engineering Technology

It would be a plus if you have experience with:

  • Transmission planning, expansion planning, or bulk electric system studies.
  • Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) or Independent System Operator (ISO) operations or planning.
  • Power system analysis software and transmission planning studies.

The appropriate level for this position will be determined based on your experience, technical knowledge, and qualifications.

If you're looking for an opportunity to solve meaningful engineering challenges while helping shape the future of the electric grid, we'd love to hear from you.

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $71,000-$96,000 USD annually. Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation.
