The Business Affairs Consultant is responsible for structuring, negotiating, and managing business agreements related to original content development, licensing, and production. This senior-level role partners with Legal, Creative, Finance, Production, Marketing, and Communications teams to negotiate complex entertainment agreements, provide strategic business guidance, and ensure successful execution of content initiatives. The ideal candidate has extensive experience negotiating entertainment industry deals within a studio, streaming platform, production company, network, or entertainment law firm.

Job Responsibilities



  • Structure, negotiate, draft, and manage business agreements for original content development, licensing, and production.
  • Negotiate content agreements and oversee business terms for above-the-line talent and production-related agreements.
  • Summarize and communicate key deal terms to internal stakeholders to ensure alignment throughout the negotiation process.
  • Partner with Legal to support long-form agreement preparation and standard contractual terms.
  • Coordinate with studios, production companies, and third-party partners on negotiations involving underlying rights, talent agreements, and production documentation.
  • Collaborate with Creative, Production, Finance, Marketing, Communications, and Legal teams to support business and production initiatives.
  • Review and evaluate production budgets and provide business guidance on production-related issues.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve internal business affairs policies, templates, and approval processes.
  • Advise stakeholders on issues related to approval rights, talent obligations, on-screen credits, exclusivity, deliverables, advertising, marketing restrictions, and promotional commitments.
  • Monitor industry trends, legal developments, and emerging technologies affecting content creation, production, and distribution.
  • Manage multiple high-priority negotiations and projects while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.


Job Requirements



  • Minimum of 8 years of experience negotiating entertainment industry agreements at a streaming platform, television network, film studio, production company, or entertainment law firm.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school required.
  • Extensive experience negotiating content development, licensing, and production agreements.
  • Strong knowledge of entertainment business affairs, production, and content acquisition practices.
  • Experience working with above-the-line talent agreements and underlying rights negotiations.
  • Exceptional contract drafting, negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex negotiations simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
