| Position Summary |
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is seeking an Academic Gastrointestinal/Liver Pathologist for a tenure-track/tenured, fixed-term, or variable track position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
We are a subspecialized surgical pathology division, and preference will be given to candidates with fellowship training and/or expertise in GI/Liver Pathology. Those who are willing to provide additional coverage in Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology, Cytopathology, and/or other Surgical Pathology Sub-specialty areas are also encouraged to apply. Participation in multidisciplinary tumor boards and effective communication with an active clinical care team that provides statewide integrated care is required.
UNC is also home to the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, a Pancreatic Cancer Center of Excellence, an
NCI-funded
SPORE in Pancreatic Cancer, an
NIH-funded Center for Gastrointestinal Biology and Disease (
CGIBD), the Center for Esophageal Diseases & Swallowing (
CEDAS), and robust abdominal transplant and GI oncology programs. There are therefore numerous opportunities to collaborate with a robust array of basic, translational, and clinical researchers. In addition to teaching clinical residents and fellows, opportunities are available for teaching in the School of Medicine, Graduate School, and Undergraduate School. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Applicants must have an MD, DO, or other MD-equivalent degree, be board-certified or board eligible in Anatomic Pathology, and be eligible to obtain a medical license in North Carolina. |
| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Sign-out experience and/or fellowship training in GI/Liver is strongly preferred. |
