Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
Position Summary
The Education Division plays a critical role in advancing North Carolina PBS's mission through educational content and community engagement initiatives across the state. Within the division, the Children's Media is produced for multiplatform engagement and the brand of North Carolina's 24/7 PBS KIDS Channel, Rootle. Rootle's extensive content requirements demand a high level of expertise to curate localized content for both broadcast and streaming platforms, ensuring comprehensive educational coverage for audiences across North Carolina. The Post-Production Editor supports the Education Division by making creative and technical decisions in assembling recorded audio and video materials into complete programs for digital and broadcast platforms. Leaving this position vacant will inevitably lead to a deterioration in the quality of content accessible to North Carolinians, resulting in an overall stagnation of the trusted educational brand for young learners and families.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience in post-production

  • Advanced skills in video and audio editing, color correction, motion graphics, media management, and digital asset archiving, along with proficiency in industry-standard software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, and Media Encoder
  • Strong creative judgment in shaping compelling stories, selecting appropriate visuals, music, and graphics, and maintaining a consistent Rootle brand identity across all content
  • Must understand educational media principles, age-appropriate content development, early childhood learning objectives, and public media standards
  • Requires experience adapting content for broadcast, streaming, web, social media, and mobile platforms, with a thorough understanding of technical delivery requirements, audience engagement considerations, and quality control processes
  • The Post-Production Editor must demonstrate exceptional project management and collaboration skills, including the ability to manage multiple deadlines, and maintain organized production workflow
