Position Summary

The
UNM-Valencia Campus is seeking a Program Manager for the Next Steps: Adult
Education Program.
This is a grant funded position with current funding through 06/30/2027, with
the expectation that funding will renew through 06/30/28.

Under indirect supervision, The
Program Manager provides leadership and oversight for the daily operations of
the Adult Education Program, ensuring the effective delivery of programs and
services that support student success. This position coordinates program
activities, oversees student admissions and testing, and supervises full-time
staff and part-time instructors by assigning work, supporting professional
development, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with university
policies and procedures.

The Program Manager writes, manages,
and reports on multiple grants; develops and oversees complex program budgets;
and ensures grant objectives, milestones, and reporting requirements are met in
accordance with funding requirements. The position monitors expenditures,
supports annual grant and fiscal year transitions, and ensures responsible
stewardship of program resources.

The role also collects, analyzes,
and reports program data to support decision-making, continuous improvement,
and compliance with institutional and external reporting requirements. In
addition, the Program Manager builds collaborative partnerships, represents the
Adult Education program in state-level leadership activities, serves on
committees, and works with internal and external stakeholders to advance
program initiatives and strengthen services for students and the community.

Located about 30 miles south of
Albuquerque in rural Valencia county, the University of New Mexico-Valencia
Campus is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico which
functions as a community college in the region and is designated a Hispanic
Serving Institution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus
offers academic transfer programs, technical vocational programs, Adult Basic
Education, and Dual Credit High School/College courses to Valencia and Socorro
Counties.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience 2 of which are management level experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience working in an educational environment, preferably with under-prepared learners.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data to evaluate program performance, prepare reports, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Advanced technology skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, data management systems, and other business applications.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, educational institutions, and other external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated commitment to transparency, collaboration, and building trust.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills that promote accountability, collaboration, and staff development.
