JOB SUMMARY

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of some 275 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe.

The Project on Nuclear Issues (PONI) identifies and cultivates emerging leaders in the nuclear fieldand builds the relationships,expertise, and cross-community engagement needed to address pressing policy challenges.Through its programs,PONIprovidesopportunities for emerging expertsto learn aboutthepolicy, technical, and operational aspects of the nuclear enterprise;develop and presentnew ideas;engage in informed debate;and visit sites across the nuclear community.PONI also conducts research across the full range of nuclear policy issues, including deterrence, arms control, and disarmament.

PONIis seekingtwofull-time paidinternsto support theprogram's research, programmatic, and administrativeworkfrom early September to mid-December 2026.The ideal candidateswill be highly motivated,detail-oriented, and have a strong interest innuclear issues.Interns will support ongoing research projects, programming and events, and administrative functions, and will alsohave the opportunity toconduct independent research.Pleasenotethese arein-personandfull-timepositions.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide research support for ongoing PONI projects, including literaturereviews, background research, anddata collection.


  • Support event logistics for PONI's research projects and programming.


  • Compile the Nuclear Policy News mailing three times weekly.


  • Support PONI's outreach efforts, including drafting social media content.
  • Produce an independent research product for the Next Generation Nuclear Network blog.


KNOWELEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERINECE

  • Must be at least a college junior in good standing.


  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.


  • Must be available for a full-time, in-person schedule (35 hours/week).
  • Must havea demonstratedinterest in nuclear weapons issues.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Knowledge of nuclear weapons issues.


  • Strong analytic and writing skills.


  • Strong communication skills and social media proficiency.


  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.


  • Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Event planning experience is a plus.
