Job Summary

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing, managing, and promoting safety programs that minimize occupational hazards and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations within construction, telecommunications, and low-voltage environments. This position conducts job site inspections, leads safety training initiatives, investigates incidents, analyzes safety trends, and partners with operations leadership to foster a culture of safety. The Safety Coordinator proactively identifies risks, develops corrective actions, and ensures employees are equipped to perform their work safely and efficiently.

Job Responsibilities




  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs designed to reduce workplace accidents, injuries, and financial losses.



  • Identify workplace hazards and evaluate potential risks to employees, equipment, and operations.



  • Conduct routine job site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.



  • Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, incidents, and occupational illnesses to determine root causes and recommend corrective and preventive actions.



  • Review construction plans and project specifications to verify compliance with applicable safety requirements.



  • Compile, analyze, and interpret safety metrics, including injury, illness, incident, and inspection data, and prepare reports for leadership.



  • Evaluate the effectiveness of corrective actions taken to resolve safety and health violations.



  • Recommend process improvements and safety enhancements to reduce employee exposure to workplace hazards.



  • Coordinate and administer safety programs and initiatives across assigned operations.



  • Conduct or facilitate safety orientation, supervisory training, field training, and ongoing compliance education.



  • Lead safety meetings and toolbox talks with supervisors and field personnel to communicate safety expectations, discuss lessons learned, and address workplace hazards.



  • Mentor employees on safe work practices and recommend corrective actions when safety standards are not met.



  • Maintain current knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction safety standards, and industry best practices.




Job Requirements




  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety management role within construction, telecommunications, low-voltage, or a related industry.



  • Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and OSHA regulations.



  • Experience conducting job site inspections, incident investigations, and safety audits.



  • Ability to analyze safety data and develop effective corrective and preventive action plans.



  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.



  • Ability to lead safety training and present information effectively to field personnel and leadership.



  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard safety reporting systems.



  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification preferred.



  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification preferred.



  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification preferred.



  • OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 certification preferred.



  • Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) certification preferred.



  • Ability to stand and walk active construction job sites for extended periods throughout the workday.




Education




  • High school diploma or equivalent required.



  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.

Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)




  • Standard work schedule is Monday through Friday with a 6:00 AM start time.



  • Weekend work and overtime are required based on project and operational needs.



  • No travel is required for this position.
