The Professional Development Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of the organization's comprehensive learning and development programs. This role is dedicated to enhancing the knowledge, skills, and competencies of hospital staff while ensuring alignment with healthcare best practices, emerging industry trends, and regulatory requirements.
Working collaboratively with leaders and stakeholders across the organization, the Professional Development & Training Manager designs and delivers impactful learning initiatives that support employee growth, professional excellence, and organizational success.
Key Responsibilities:
-Design, develop, and continuously update training programs tailored to the needs of both clinical and non-clinical staff.
-Assess workforce learning needs and identify skill gaps through regular evaluations and feedback mechanisms.
-Create and implement comprehensive training curricula that support organizational goals and foster continuous professional growth.
-Develop learning pathways that enhance employee knowledge, performance, and career development.
-Plan and facilitate engaging training sessions, workshops, seminars, and educational activities.
-Deliver instruction on topics including patient care practices, safety protocols, compliance requirements, leadership development, technology adoption, and organizational initiatives.
-Utilize a variety of instructional methods to maximize learner engagement and knowledge retention.
-Lead and coordinate onboarding and orientation programs for new employees.
-Partner with department leaders to ensure successful integration into the hospital environment and role-specific training requirements.
-Promote a positive onboarding experience that supports long-term employee success.
-Maintain accurate records of employee training, development activities, certifications, and educational progress.
-Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement.
-Track employee development outcomes and performance enhancements resulting from learning programs.
-Collaborate with external training providers, educational institutions, and professional organizations to expand development opportunities and resources.
-Research, evaluate, and implement innovative learning technologies, e-learning platforms, and educational tools.
-Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes to ensure training programs remain relevant and effective.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Administration required or Bachelor's Degree in Related Field of Study required
  • Master's Degree in Related Field of Study preferred
  • Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse License required
  • 5-7 years of experience in designing, developing, and implementing training programs in a healthcare or hospital setting required
  • 2-3 years experience in Critical Care and intermediate car inpatient experiences required
  • Management Experience 2-3 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of healthcare industry regulations, compliance standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and motivate various audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems and e-learning platforms is desirable.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate training program effectiveness and measure staff development progress.
  • A passion for continuous learning and a commitment to staying abreast of industry trends and advancing technology.
