Essential Functions & Responsibilities

As an Onsite Chemist, you will serve as the customer's dedicated, on-site point of contact for hazardous waste management and compliance. You will be responsible for sorting and preparing hazardous and nonhazardous materials for shipment from the customer's site. This role will ensure material compatibility and adhere to all safety processes for each job and lab packing service provided to the customer.

This is not a bench chemist position. The Onsite Chemist works full-time at a single customer site, conducting inspections of storage containers and inventory, maintaining the customer's hazardous waste storage areas, and managing the logistics of multiple hazardous waste truck shipments each day. The Onsite Chemist also serves as a technical resource for the customer and is responsible for maintaining full regulatory compliance at the site.

Location & Schedule

  • Based full-time on-site at the customer's facility
  • Schedule for this role is 7am-3pm daily with overtime likely based on customer operations and shipment volume

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
  • Segregates and characterizes chemicals by hazard class and packs compatible materials into appropriate containers to prepare them for transport; completes required documentation per job, conducting facility inspections as needed
  • Conducts regular inspections of on-site waste storage containers and inventory to maintain ongoing regulatory compliance
  • Manages the logistics of daily hazardous waste shipments, coordinating several truck shipments per day with transportation and disposal providers
  • Collects hazardous and nonhazardous materials from various onsite locations and transports via pushcart or Company van to waste collection areas
  • Follows proper placarding and load segregation requirements when loading hazardous materials
  • Effectively communicates important information to the customer and maintains a productive and positive relationship with key customer contacts, acting as a technical resource on hazardous waste matters
  • Maintains a logbook of waste stored within the waste storage area at customer site
  • Maintains good housekeeping in storage areas and advises relevant parties when additional supplies are needed
  • Provides direction to Field Technicians/Drivers while onsite assisting with waste collection
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization


Education

- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in a science-related discipline preferred


Experience

  • 1+ years of experience in lab packing or an environmental waste role preferred
