POSITION: Avionics Repair Technician

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Repair Station

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Repair Technician is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and testing communication, navigation and flight control (ATC, ADF, TCAS, Audio) panels.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Performs repairs by conducting various functional tests on single, dual and multiple head control panels (TCAS, ACP, mechanical units) to diagnose and troubleshoot component boards to the component level.
  • Uses standard test equipment such as power supplies, multimeters which measure voltage/current/resistance, function generators, and oscilliscopes.
  • Adjusts and replaces defective or improperly functioning circuitry and electronic components (thru hole or surface mount) using hand tools such as pliers, screwdrivers, soldering irons and vacuum desoldering guns.
  • Consults technical manuals, test procedures, schematics and wiring diagrams to solve component and circuit problems.
  • Provides written repair estimates to customers as necessary based on complexity of repair work.
  • Enters description of work completed on work orders and properly documents removal and installation of parts in accordance with FAA traceability standards.
  • Tracks and closes work orders using in-house IFS ERP system.


JOB SKILLS REQUIRED:



  • Strong electronic theory and troubleshooting skills (component level)
  • Ability to read and interpret drawing, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Knowledge of various test equipment to include multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other special avionic test equipment to support environmental testing.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to support several projects and engineers while balancing priorities and schedules as necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate well with employees at all levels.



REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:



  • S. degree in electronics or equivalent military/technical trade experience.
  • 5+ years of electronics experience (avionics preferred)



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Light Work- This role may require exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to lift carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Most essential functions are performed while sitting but walking and standing is occasionally required.
  • Manual dexterity is required in the assembly or fabrication of parts which may result in the repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Visual acuity is required for visual inspection of boards involving small defects, small parts, using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
