MaineHealth Orthopedics & Sports Medicine | Rockport & Belfast, Maine

Position Summary
MaineHealth Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Orthopedic Surgeon to join our expanding, team-based practice serving the coastal communities of Knox and Waldo Counties. This position is ideal for a general orthopedic surgeon with a strong interest in knee procedures, who values a collaborative environment and a diverse clinical practice.

Practice Overview

  • Established, well-respected Orthopedics & Sports Medicine program
  • Two primary locations: Rockport and Belfast, Maine
  • Integrated care model with experienced APP support, rehabilitation services, and care coordination
  • Strong referral base across primary care and specialty services in the region

Position Details

  • Scope: General Orthopedics with opportunity to build elective and procedural volume in knee-focused care
  • Practice Sites: Clinical and daytime OR responsibilities shared between Rockport and Belfast, ME
  • Call Coverage:
    • 1:10 weekend call rotation
    • 1:4 weekday call rotation
    • Call coverage based out of Rockport, ME

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive orthopedic care across outpatient, inpatient, and surgical settings
  • Perform a broad range of general orthopedic procedures, with opportunity to develop knee specialty focus
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team including physicians, APPs, physical therapy, and care management
  • Participate in regional call coverage
  • Contribute to quality improvement and program development initiatives

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree with Board Certification or Eligibility in Orthopedic Surgery
  • Fellowship training welcomed but not required; interest/experience in knee procedures preferred
  • Eligible for licensure in the State of Maine
  • Strong commitment to patient-centered care, teamwork, and community engagement
