We are seeking a compassionate Nursing Leader who excels in communication, fosters a culture of safety, respect, and continuous improvement, and leads with fairness and consistency. The ideal candidate possesses strong clinical expertise in psychiatric disorders and is passionate about mentoring, developing, and supporting care team members to achieve their full potential. This leader will collaborate closely with psychiatrists, social workers, educators, and clinical program leaders to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered behavioral health care while promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.

The 1 North West Coed Adolescent Psychiatric Unit at MaineHealth Behavioral Health's Spring Harbor Hospital specializes in the care of lower acuity adolescent girls and boys generally between ages 12-18. Unit treatment and programming includes comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, medication management, individual and family therapy, occupational therapy interventions, and utilization of positive behavioral incentives and supports. Patients receive on-site academic tutoring and engage in recreational opportunities in the gym, and the outside playground and courtyard areas. Treatment includes dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, milieu activities, and skills-based groups.

Summary:
The Nurse Manager assists the Director in the coordination, supervision, and management of all personnel and patient care activities of the unit and in the successful operation of the hospital and network at large.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a graduate of an accredited Nursing program required. RNC preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: Licensed as a registered professional nurse by the Maine State Board of Nursing required.
  3. Experience: 2+ years of psychiatric nursing or comparable experience preferred.
  4. Demonstrate leadership and management skills.
  5. Demonstrate expertise in clinical practice and judgment.
  6. Demonstrate effective communication skills.
