Computational Neuroscience Intern- Joy Lab The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) is seeking a motivatedComputational Neuroscience Internto join the Joy Lab for a summer internship. The Joy Lab studies mechanisms of neural repair after stroke using large-scale neural recordings, ethological measurements of behavior, optogenetics, and transcriptomics. The successful candidate will work with datasets collected from neurophysiological recordings and animal behavior experiments. Primary responsibilities will include developing and implementing statistical and machine learning models for data analysis, data mining, data curation, and storage in research repositories. This internship offers significant opportunities for professional growth, including the chance to develop novel methods and evaluate existing approaches in computational neuroscience. The intern will work closely with members of the Joy Lab, learn about relevant biological questions and scientific literature, apply analytical models to complex datasets, and contribute to scientific publications. Candidates are expected to have an undergraduate degree. A master's degree or experience in one or more areas such as neuroscience, machine learning, computational biology, statistics, data science, or a related field, is desirable. Remote work may be possible; however, the candidate is expected to communicate regularly and effectively with lab members. Applications should include a CV and a cover letter describing the candidate's interest in the position. Pay Range: $14.5 - $30.51 About JAX: The Jackson Laboratory is an independent, nonprofit biomedical research institution with a National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center and nearly 3,000 employees in locations across the United States (Maine, Connecticut, California),Japan andChina. Its mission is to discover precise genomic solutions for disease and empower the global biomedical community in the shared quest to improve human health. Founded in 1929, JAX applies over nine decades of expertise in genetics to increase understanding of human disease, advancing treatments and cures for cancer, neurological and immune disorders, diabetes, aging and heart disease. It models and interprets genomic complexity, integrates basic research with clinical application, educates current and future scientists, and provides critical data, tools and services to the global biomedical community.
