Medical Technologist (Part-Time)

Spectra Tech, Inc. is hiring for a Part-Time Medical Technologist in Oak Ridge, TN.

We are seeking a licensed Part-Time Medical Laboratory Scientist (Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist) to support occupational health laboratory operations. This position is responsible for specimen collection, laboratory testing, analyzer maintenance, and accurate reporting of patient results. Additional cross-training will be provided in occupational health testing and screening procedures.

• Perform venipuncture and collect blood specimens.
• Handle and process blood and urine samples.
• Run:
  • Calibration samples
  • Quality control samples
  • Proficiency testing samples
  • Patient specimens
• Review and interpret laboratory results.
• Enter laboratory results into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Perform scheduled maintenance on laboratory analyzers.
• Maintain quality standards and follow laboratory procedures.

Training will be provided to perform:

• Vision testing
• Electrocardiograms (ECGs)
• Vital signs, including:
  • Blood pressure
  • Pulse
  • Oxygen saturation (SpO)
  • Temperature
• Attend a NIOSH-approved Spirometry Training Course to become qualified in pulmonary function testing.
• Attend a CAOHC-approved Audiometry Course to become certified in performing hearing tests (audiograms).

Work Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week with a flexible schedule.

• Associate's degree or higher in Medical Laboratory Science or a related laboratory discipline.

• 2-5 years of relevant laboratory experience.

• Current licensure by the State of Tennessee as one of the following:
  • Medical Technologist (MT)
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
  • Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)
