Software Engineer

The Opportunity:

As a full stack developer, you can resolve a problem with a complete end-to-end solution in a fast, agile environment. If you're looking for the chance to not just develop software, but to help create a system that will make a difference, we need you on our team. We're looking for a developer like you with the skills needed to develop software and systems from vision to production ready.

This role is more than just coding. As a full stack developer at Booz Allen, you'll use your passion to learn new tools and techniques and identify needed system improvements. You'll help clients overcome their most difficult challenges using the latest architectural approaches, tools, and technologies. You'll help make sure the solution developed by the team considers the current architecture and operating environment, as well as future functionality and enhancements.

What You'll Work On:

  • Analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan the development of a new application or modification of an existing application.

  • Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.

  • Apply coding and testing standards, apply security testing tools including "'fuzzing" static-analysis code scanning tools, and conduct code reviews.

  • Apply secure code documentation.

  • Compile and write documentation of program development and subsequent revisions so others can understand the program.

  • Conduct trial runs of programs and software applications to ensure the desired information is produced, and instructions and security levels are correct.

  • Design, develop, and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.

  • Develop secure code and error handling.

  • Perform secure programming and identify potential flaws in codes to mitigate vulnerabilities.

  • Direct software programming and development of documentation.

Join us. The world can't wait.

You Have:

  • Experience designing, modifying, developing, writing, testing, deploying, and maintaining software applications through the full software development lifecycle

  • Experience with software development using Python, Java, and C++

  • Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs, with attention to secure and efficient data exchange

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure and containerization tools such as Docker or Kubernetes

  • Experience using back-end and front-end languages to develop complete solutions

  • Experience creating solutions to complex problems within a collaborative team environment

  • Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases for data modeling and query optimization

  • TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

  • HS diploma or GED and 6+ years of experience with software engineering or Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of experience with software engineering

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with Agile methodology, extreme programming, and DevOps

  • Experience with web development stacks and modern frontend frameworks such as Svelte, Vue.js, Angular, or React

  • Experience with C#, .NET, JavaScript, React, NodeJS, PHP, or Drupal

  • Knowledge of security best practices such as authentication, authorization, or OWASP guidelines

  • Ability to acquire client requirements and resolve workflow problems through automation and optimization

  • Ability to work with automated testing tools to perform testing and maintenance

  • Possession of strong collaboration and version control skills using Git, code reviews, branching strategies, and CI/CD pipelines

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.
