Overview

Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies. We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems. Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

This position will be located at NASA's White Sands Test Facility in the Laboratories Department.

Responsibilities

Engineer or Scientist sought to support design, build, and testing of hazardous test systems within the Materials Components and Testing Department.

    Conducting of hazardous liquids, gasses or cryogenic testing involving a variety of test methods, temperatures, pressures, and test configurations.
  • Preparation of detailed work instruction documents, including direction and oversight for mechanical technicians in a union environment.
  • Management of pressure systems to ASME and NASA site specific requirements. This includes designing and maintaining pressure systems to include flow, pressure, compatibility, and stress calculations to allow for safe personnel operation.
  • Preparation and presentation of informal and formal briefings to the customer and internal management.
  • Position could also support other Laboratory Department groups, such as Oxygen Group or Hypervelocity, depending on department workload demands.


Qualifications

Education level:

Engineering or Science related Bachelors degree at a minimum. Masters degree is a plus.

Experience:

  • (0-5) Years of relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering field, or equivalent
  • Hazardous Testing systems experience
  • Hypergolic propellant experience
  • Cryogenic media experience
  • Ordinance Handler experience
  • Hazard assessment skills
  • Basic computational tools (Excel, MathCad, AutoCAD, etc.)
