About the Raymond B. Jones College of Engineering The Raymond B. Jones College of Engineering (RBJCOE) is a Christ-centered community providing undergraduate education and BS degrees in Mechanical, Civil/Environmental, and Electrical / Computer Engineering (all ABET-accredited) as well as undergraduate instruction in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Information Technology, and Interdisciplinary Engineering. We offer a minor in Humanitarian Engineering and an undergraduate certificate in Applied Artificial Intelligence. Our college also offers both a graduate MS degree and a graduate certificate program in Applied Artificial Intelligence. The Opportunity The RBJCOE is seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable individual to oversee and support our undergraduate tutoring program. This individual should be passionate about supporting our undergraduate students in their academic, personal, and spiritual journeys. You will empower students to set and achieve academic goals, navigate their transition to collegiate studies, and pursue the RBJCOE major of their choosing. -all within a Christian worldview. This is a part-time position with flexible work hours and an expectation of working 20 hours per week while school is in session, including the summer semester. What You Will Do
- Provide individualized academic support to undergraduate students, including study skills, time management, problem solving, mathematics, science, and in a subset of the undergraduate technical disciplines taught in the RBJCOE.
- Oversee the work of student tutors providing academic support in the disciplines taught in the RBJCOE and STEM disciplines taught outside the RBJCOE, but required of RBJCOE students.
- Lead the RBJCOE Accelerated Engineering Readiness Opportunity (AERO) program in the summer. This is a multi-week, math refresher program designed to improve the readiness of students entering STEM fields in college.
- Establish strong, trusting relationships with students to enhance their engagement and retention. Take a proactive interest in their progress, adapting tutoring strategies to meet their unique needs and fostering a sense of belonging on campus.
- Offer emotional support, helping students navigate stress, anxiety, peer relationships, and personal challenges with empathy and confidentiality. Willing to and comfortable with directing students to professional counseling and other support services as needed.
- Collaborate with faculty to identify and support students' academic needs.
- Maintain accurate student records and monitor academic progress, intervening proactively when concerns arise.
- Integrate Biblical principles and Christ-like character into tutoring and mentoring practices.
- As a member of the RBJCOE staff, support the undergraduate recruiting, retention, and student support activities of our college.
- Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions.
What You Bring
- As a faith-based university affiliated with the Churches of Christ, the RBJCOE seeks a staff member who can support and model the school's mission and values. Candidates should be willing to participate in spiritual life activities and mentor students in faith and character.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, or other STEM field.
- Demonstrated experience in working with undergraduate students in academic and emotional support.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work within a strong, multi-disciplinary team.
- Capable of practicing empathy, patience, and directness with students experiencing stress and anxiety.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
- Proficiency with student information systems (SIS), Microsoft Office tools, and Google Workspace.
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and collaboration.

Bachelors of Engineering (preferred)
Experience
2 - 5 years: Prefer work experience in STEM education or in STEM related fields. (preferred)
