Position Summary: The Senior Laser Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and functional operation of laser processing equipment within the R&D organization. This position supports the development, prototyping, and production transfer of medical device components through advanced laser manufacturing processes. Primary responsibilities include developing and executing manual and CAD-based programs for femtosecond and fiber laser cutting of tube, flat stock, and complex components. The individual will assist in the design, fabrication, and qualification of tooling, fixtures, and workholding solutions required to support development activities. Additional responsibilities include setup, operation, troubleshooting, and optimization of laser welding systems for joining metallic components and assemblies. The role will also support laser marking operations, including the development of permanent identification marks, UDI markings, logos, and other precision marking applications on a variety of materials. The Senior Laser Technician will collaborate closely with engineers, quality personnel, and manufacturing teams to develop robust laser processes, document process parameters, conduct process characterization studies, and support equipment qualifications and validations. The position is expected to maintain a high level of technical expertise in laser processing technologies while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
