Duties & Responsibilities

Own Analytical Interpretation and Insightful Storytelling

  • Analyze complex institutional datasets across student, administrative, and operational domains; interpret results within appropriate institutional context; and translate findings into clear, decision relevant narratives for leadership.
  • This includes explaining trends, drivers, assumptions, caveats, and implications to support informed planning and decisionmaking.

Support Executive Level Internal and External Reporting

  • Contribute to high visibility internal and external reporting (e.g., leadership briefings, accountability metrics, mandated reporting) by ensuring analytical accuracy, interpretive consistency, and appropriate contextual framing for executive and public audiences.

Develop and Refine High Quality Analytical Products

  • Collaborate with other Analyst, BI developers, data engineers, and technical partners to design, refine, and validate dashboards, reports, and visualizations that prioritize insight, interpretability, and institutional usefulness.

Exercise Professional Judgment in Complex or Ambiguous Analytical Scenarios

  • Apply sound judgment when data is incomplete, conflicting, or evolving; surface risks, sensitivities, limitations, and uncertainties; and support responsible institutional use of data in high impact contexts.

Collaborate and Mentor within UAIR

  • Serve as a thought partner to junior analysts by contributing to shared analytical standards, documentation, and data literacy efforts.
  • Collaborating closely with senior and principal analysts to strengthen the unit's collective analytical capability.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex analytical results and communicate insights clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences, including senior leaders.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of how institutional context, definitions, and data limitations affect analytical interpretation.
  • Proficiency with business intelligence and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Oracle Analytics).
  • Solid SQL skills and experience working with large, multisource relational datasets.
  • Skills in utilizing professional judgment, discretion, and care when working with sensitive or highimpact institutional data.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with technical teams and institutional stakeholders.
