Position Overview
| Position Summary |
The Office of Human Resources seeks a customer-focused Human Resources Generalist to provide professional HR support in recruitment, onboarding, employee relations,
HRIS administration, records management, compliance, and customer service. This position serves as a trusted resource for employees, applicants, supervisors, and campus departments while ensuring compliance with University,
UNC System, State, and Federal policies and regulations. 100% in person position, this role is not eligible for remote/ hybrid work.
Essential Duties
- Serve as the primary point of contact for HR inquiries and provide guidance on employment, recruitment, onboarding, leave, payroll, benefits referrals, and HR policies. Front desk office support.
- Assist applicants with the online application process and coordinate background checks and new employee onboarding.
- Interpret and apply University and State HR policies, review personnel actions for compliance, and assist departments with hiring and HR transactions.
- Maintain employee records, process HR transactions in Banner and PeopleAdmin, prepare reports, ensure data integrity and electronic scanning of personnel files.
- Conduct HR audits (desk, leave, policies, website), support compliance initiatives, update HR communications and website content, and administer the Employee Service Awards Program and Succession Planning.
- Provide operational support by coordinating meetings, training, purchasing, office operations, and special projects.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in a human resources, administrative, or customer service role preferred.
- Strong customer service, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher education Human Resources experience.
- Experience with Banner, PeopleAdmin, or similar HR systems.
- Knowledge of
UNC System or North Carolina State Human Resources policies.

SHRM-CP,
SHRM-
SCP,
PHR, or
SPHR certification preferred.

Experience screening applicant qualifications to determine if they meet the position requirements through the use of an applicant tracking system.

Experience interpreting and applying human resources principles,practices, policies,and procedures preferably in the areas of hiring and salary administration.
Experience providing consultation to business units regarding matters such as hiring,
HRIS support, HR operations processes and procedures.
