Senior Bridge Engineer

Are you an experienced Bridge Engineer looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while helping grow a thriving transportation practice? We are seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to join our dynamic Pittsburgh Transportation team. In this role, you'll leverage your technical expertise, project management experience, and business development skills to help deliver innovative infrastructure solutions and support the continued growth of our structural engineering group.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Bridge Engineer, you'll play a key role in both project delivery and team development by:

  • Leading structural engineering efforts on transportation and multidisciplinary projects.
  • Managing bridge and infrastructure projects from planning and design through construction.
  • Delivering high-quality technical work while providing exceptional client service.
  • Supporting business development efforts, including proposal preparation and pursuit strategies.
  • Mentoring and developing engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Designing and analyzing new and existing bridges, retaining walls, culverts, sign structures, and other transportation-related structures.
  • Developing bridge rehabilitation solutions and performing bridge load ratings.
  • Preparing construction documents, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Conducting constructability reviews and supporting construction-phase services.
  • Reviewing shop drawings and responding to contractor requests for information (RFIs).
  • Performing quality control reviews of engineering calculations, designs, and inspection reports.
  • Preparing and maintaining quality control documentation.
  • Assisting with proposal development and pursuit-specific structural packages.
  • Supporting construction engineering activities on design projects.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the structural design and management of bridges and transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated success in project management and business development.
  • Proven ability to lead bridge and infrastructure projects from concept through construction while building strong client relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Mathcad.
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
  • Flexibility to support projects across Pennsylvania and other states as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Experience with structural analysis and design software such as Midas, LARS, MDX, V-Bent, CSiBridge, LEAP Bridge, STAAD, AASHTOWARE, and PennDOT programs.
  • Proficiency with OpenBridge and MicroStation (preferred) and/or AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of the analysis and design of steel, concrete, prestressed concrete, and timber transportation structures.

Compensation Range:

$132,708.77 - $151,667.16
