Position Highlights

The Marketing Specialist is a member of the Campus Brand Engagement Team, an internal consulting group that supports college and unit marketing and communications teams across the University of Arizona. This role operates within a consulting model, serving as a trusted resource and strategic partner for assigned science and health colleges and units including but not limited to the Colleges of Medicine (Tucson and Phoenix), Public Health, Pharmacy, and Nursing.

This professional provides marketing and communications guidance through strategic toolkits, planning templates, and direct collaboration with college and unit teams to advance brand alignment and university priorities while enabling colleges to achieve their marcom goals. This position reports to the Executive Director of Campus Brand Engagement within the Marketing and Communications Division.

This position is based on the University of Arizona's main campus in Tucson, AZ, and requires collaboration with various departments and teams across the university. Occasional travel may be required.

Duties & Responsibilities

College & Unit Coordination:

  • Under the strategic direction of the Executive Director of Campus Brand Engagement, this role serves as the day-to-day liaison between the Campus Brand Engagement team and assigned colleges and units across the University. This specialist fosters effective communication and collaborative relationships with marketing and communications partners, facilitating coordinated marketing and communications efforts that support the University's strategic vision. The role provides guidance on university brand standards, marketing policies, and institutional priorities, helping ensure consistent messaging and the effective development and implementation of marketing and communications initiatives and collateral for internal and external audiences.

Communications, Resources & Engagement Support:

  • This role supports the development, organization, and promotion of marketing and communications resources that help colleges and units effectively implement University brand and marketing strategies. Responsibilities include coordinating the development and distribution of toolkits and resources, supporting internal communications, and promoting awareness and adoption of available services and materials. The position also assists in developing marketing and communications training resources, informational materials, and other tools that enhance engagement and support campus partners.

Administrative & Operational Support:

  • Provides administrative and operational support to the Campus Brand Engagement team by coordinating meeting logistics, scheduling, room reservations, and other day-to-day operational activities. This role assists with maintaining documentation, preparing reports, organizing team records, and supporting routine administrative processes that contribute to the efficient operation of the team. By ensuring operational tasks are completed accurately and on schedule, this position enables leadership and team members to remain focused on strategic priorities.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong thinking and problem-solving capabilities, with a clear understanding of marketing principles.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce), CMS (e.g., Drupal, SharePoint), and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to build relationships and generate stakeholder buy-in.
  • Proficiency in project management and the ability to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, participation in a culture of innovation.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience coordinating client accounts, marketing projects, advertising campaigns, or social media initiatives.
  • Experience in higher education, research, or health-related marketing organizations.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience working within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
