This Advanced Practice Provider position at UVA Health blends clinical autonomy, program development, and specialty exposure into a single, career-defining role. You will work closely with an established group of physicians while building your own patient panel and contributing to a growing service line that is meeting significant unmet patient demand. The Role This is a high-impact outpatient role designed for an APP who is energized by both clinical practice and the opportunity to help shape a developing specialty program. As the first APP in the division, you will have meaningful input into workflow design, patient care models, and long-term program growth. In this role, you will balance independent clinical responsibilities with close collaboration across a multidisciplinary team, managing a diverse patient population in both general allergy and eosinophilic esophagitis (EOE). You can expect your day-to-day work to include: Providing outpatient care across general adult allergy and immunology and EOE, with a long-term target of balanced exposure between both areas Managing and growing your own patient panel, with increasing autonomy as you ramp into the role Interpreting allergy testing and contributing to diagnostic and treatment planning decisions Working across multiple clinical locations including Zion Crossroads, Northridge, and Emily Couric Cancer Center Participating in approximately 8 patient-facing sessions per week in a structured ambulatory setting The clinical environment is fast-paced and high-volume, reflective of the strong demand in this specialty. You will initially spend more time in general allergy as volume dictates, with a gradual shift toward EOE care as program growth continues. The role includes a clear onboarding pathway: Early phase focused on shadowing and clinical integration Mid-phase ramp into independent patient care Long-term expectation of full patient panel ownership and productivity This position is well suited for clinicians who are confident, adaptable, and motivated to build something meaningful within a supportive academic framework. Advanced Practice Provider Scope of Practice: Clinical Provides expert evidence-based, top-of-scope care in their clinical practice Acts as part of a specialty team, collaborating with other clinicians as appropriate Provides health education to patients Maintains accurate, timely, and thorough documentation Ensures compliance with institutional and regulatory standards Leadership Supports development of best practices and protocols in specialty Serves on committees and workgroups to enhance patient care Provides education to learners in the clinical space Mentors new team members Administration Contributes to clinical quality improvement work Participates in professional governance through the APP Council Attends team development meetings at local and departmental levels Professional Adheres to ASPIRE values in all professional interactions Maintains appropriate licenses, certifications, and specialty training competencies Participates in local, state, and national professional organizations http://app.uvahs.org/ Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree. Experience: Department and unit specific. Licensure: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease. The pay range for this role is $116,123.00 - $171,163.20 annually.
