Position Summary

Are you organized, detail-oriented, and energized by an early morning start? Meijer is looking for a Direct to Store Delivery (DSD) Receiving Clerk to join our Store team. In this role, you will be the gatekeeper of our inventory, ensuring that all direct vendor deliveries are accurately accounted for, processed, and safely stored.

Because you are the first line of defense for inventory accuracy, this position requires a high level of attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe backroom environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurate Receiving: Verify, count, and log all incoming direct-to-store vendor deliveries against invoices and purchase orders using handheld scanning technology.

  • Detail-Oriented Quality Control: Inspect incoming products for damage, expiration dates, and quality standards, refusing or documenting discrepancies as necessary.

  • Backroom Organization: Maintain a highly organized receiving area. Safely stage, stage-route, and stock incoming merchandise to ensure smooth floor replenishment.

  • Safety & Cleanliness Standards: Actively participate in keeping the backroom clean, clutter-free, and compliant with Meijer safety standards.clearing fire lanes, and operating disposal equipment).

  • Vendor Relations: Provide friendly, professional service to external vendors and delivery drivers while enforcing store receiving policies.

Qualifications
  • Schedule Reliability: Must be available to work shifts scheduled within the 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM window (including weekends and holidays as business needs dictate). Monday- Saturday Availability required

  • Sharp Attention to Detail: Ability to spot discrepancies in large numbers, match codes, and maintain flawless electronic records.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, walk, bend, reach, and lift/move heavy boxes or pallets (up to 50 lbs regularly).

  • Safety-Minded: A proactive attitude toward maintaining a clean, hazard-free workspace.

  • Tech Savvy: Comfortable learning and using store inventory software and handheld RF scanners.

  • Experience: Previous experience in retail receiving, inventory, or warehousing is a plus, but we are willing to train the right detail-driven candidate.

This job has a step pay plan that generally starts between the rates below with raises occurring after predetermined hours worked. The actual rate offered will meet or surpass the legal wage requirement for the job's location.

$15.25 - $16.98
