What success looks like in this role: Senior Technician Data Center Operations Support
Overview
We are seeking a Senior Data Center Data Center Operations Support Technician to provide site-based technical and operational support within high-availability data center environments. This role is responsible for maintaining system stability, supporting infrastructure operations, and ensuring timely resolution of issues impacting critical IT systems. The Senior Data Center Operations Support Technician plans and executes complex tasks without supervision and provides direction and support for subordinate Data Center Operations Support Technicians. This role may serve as a site leader, responsible for all matters concerning data center operations at the assigned site(s). The ideal candidate will bring experience across hardware, systems monitoring, and data center operations, with a strong focus on reliability, responsiveness, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day operational and technical support for data center systems and infrastructure.
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software systems within the data center environment.
- Perform system and network monitoring using enterprise tools to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to servers, storage, networking, and peripheral equipment.
- Support data processing activities, including batch operations and job monitoring.
- Execute cabling, rack/stack, and server installation activities.
- Maintain accurate logs, documentation, and operational records.
- Follow and uphold emergency operating procedures and escalation protocols.
- Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and clients to resolve complex technical issues.
- Interface with clients and support groups to escalate issues for resolution.
Required Skills and Work Experience
- Advanced working knowledge of data center operations support.
- 2-4 years of experience in data center operations role, infrastructure support role, or a related technical field.
Technical Skills
- Data center infrastructure support (racking and stacking IT equipment, structured data cabling)
- IT hardware maintenance and servicing.
- Advanced troubleshooting of hardware, core software, and network issues.
- Environmental monitoring.
- IT systems performance analysis.
- Batch processing and job scheduling support.
- Hardware and peripheral equipment maintenance
- Advanced networking concepts (connectivity, switching, routing).
- Manage rack utilization and power allocations.
- Assist with planning for complex infrastructure projects in the data center.

- Familiar with a Data Center Infrastructure Management toolset.
- Familiar with a Service Management toolset (e.g., ServiceNow).
- Strong technical documentation habits.
You will be successful in this role if you have:
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Work Experience
- Associate degree or technical certification in IT, computer science, data center operations, or a related field.
- Technical certifications
- CompTIA (A+, Network+, Server+).
- CCNA.
- Experience supporting multiple systems or platforms (e.g., servers, network devices, storage systems)
- Familiarity with data center infrastructure performance standards and safety practices.
- Structured data cabling.
- Advanced IT Service Management knowledge.
Work Environment
- This role is site-based.
- This role may be required to travel to other sites.
- Regular 40-hour week (Monday-Friday).
- Required to work outside business hours when necessary to achieve critical business objectives.
- Required to participate in a standby on-call roster.
- Reports to a team manager.
