THE POSITION

Do you have the skills and experience to supervise a team that supports fairness and compliance in the insurance field? Apply for this Administrative Officer 1 position and serve as a Licensing Officer 1 with the Pennsylvania Insurance Department's (PID) Bureau of Licensing and Enforcement, Licensing Services Division. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this Licensing Officer 1 role, you will supervise a team that reviews and determines eligibility for specialty insurance licensing applicants within the Commonwealth. Our team will rely on you to ensure licensing activities run smoothly, guide improvements, and research and respond to complex inquiries. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervise Staff: Manage the receipt, processing, and evaluation of specialty insurance licensing applications; determine work priorities; evaluate staff performance; provide training; and perform other supervisory duties
  • Evaluate Processes: Analyze and review work processes, identify issues, and recommend improvements; research special projects for the Bureau
  • Manage Inquires: Oversee public email inquiries and ensure staff provide timely and accurate responses; manage responses to written and verbal inquiries referred by the legislative office
  • Professional Communication: Attend and lead meetings, make oral presentations, prepare complex or sensitive correspondence for the Bureau Director's signature; testify at formal administrative hearings as necessary
  • Business Name Review: Manage and oversee the business entity and fictitious name approval process; liaise with other departments and bureaus to resolve issues
  • System Guidance: Work with IT department and vendors to resolve technical issues and ensure enhancements support workflow needs

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to three days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in varied office management or staff work; and bachelor's degree; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
