Fairfax Behavioral Health (a UHS facility):

Fairfax Behavioral Health, founded in 1930, is a private, free-standing mental health hospital that specializes in psychiatric and detox treatment. We strive to meet and respond to the needs of our community by offering a continuum of care and evidenced-based programs at multiple locations within our region. Position Summary:

The Financial Counseloris responsible forverifying benefits and eligibility for potential and actual patient admissions, for completing the actual admission/registration process required for the patient's admission to thehospital and forassistingin the preparation of the financial folder.The position is also responsible for providing patient financial counseling and collectinganyout of pocketamountsfrom patientsat the time of or during admission.

This positionis responsible forcoordinating withIntake and Utilization Review Departmentsand communicatingappropriate informationregardingbenefit and coverage requirementsin atimelymannerto allow them to obtaintimelyandaccurateauthorization for the patient's stay.

The Financial Counseloris responsible foridentifyingpotentialpayment and risk issues, and communicating this information, to theAdmissions Team orDirectorof Out patient ina timelymanner.The Financial Counselor will also ensure the accuracy and completion of charge tickets on a daily basis. They will assistthe Outpatient service departments in ensuring that the highest level of integrity and compliance with known payer requirements ismaintainedat all timesand reflected accurately within the areas of their responsibility.

The Financial Counselor acts as a technical resourceregardingall aspects of Admissions and financial counseling.The Financial Counseloris responsible forproviding admissions training toother personnel, Reception,and Intake staff as needed, as well asassistingin developingappropriate policies,proceduresand forms for use in the admissions office.


Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High school graduate with a minimum of two years experience in admissions and/or collections
  • Working knowledge of managed care and business software programs
  • A good understanding of insurance plans and the ability to interpret benefits and calculate copays, deductibles, and coinsurance is also very helpful
