Job Summary

The eSports Instructional Services Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the operational and student support functions of GCC's eSports program. Serving as the central point of contact for the program, this position manages day-to-day operations of the eSports lab, teams, competitions, events, and related resources while supporting the Gaming Certificate and Degree pathways. The Coordinator supports student success through engagement, monitoring student eligibility and academic progress, connects students with tutoring and support services, and collaborates with Academic Affairs and Student Affairs to promote persistence, retention, and completion.

This position also serves as a liaison to students, faculty, staff, and feeder high schools to expand educational and career pathways. Additional responsibilities include outreach, marketing, data collection and analysis, enrollment and retention strategies, supervision of part-time staff and student workers, and maintaining program records, facilities, and equipment. The Instructional Services Coordinator ensures students receive academic and career pathway support.

Essential Functions

25% - Plan, coordinate, and oversee operational aspects of the college eSports program, including team activities, competitions, events, open lab hours, scheduling, and management of facilities, equipment, inventories, records, and related resources.

25% - Monitor student eligibility, enrollment status, GPA requirements, and academic progress; provide guidance, process support, referrals to tutoring and student services, and support the Gaming CCL and degree pathways through student engagement and academic alignment.

15% - Coordinate projects, activities, and initiatives related to eSports, gaming, technology, and digital media programs; research trends and best practices; assist with program assessment processes, instructional planning, and continuous program improvement.

15% - Participate in outreach, marketing, and development of promotional materials. Serve as liaison to students, faculty, staff, and feeder high schools.

15% - Collect, monitor, analyze, and report program data related to enrollment, retention, completion, transfer, and equity outcomes; recommend and implement improvement strategies; assist in training, scheduling, and supervising part-time staff and/or student workers as assigned.

5% - Performs other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the department and college.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in a related program area, and one year of program coordination experience.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

A. Degree, certification, or coursework in esports management, event management, digital media, recreation, or a related field.

B. One Year or more experience participating in, coaching, advising, or supporting collegiate or competitive esports programs.

C. Knowledge of current esports titles, platforms, and competitive gaming environments, such as Overwatch, League of Legends, Fortnite, Valorant, Apex Legends, Counter-Strike, Call of Duty, Super Smash Bros., and related games, specifically noted in the resume.

D. One Year or more experience using streaming, broadcasting, and community engagement platforms such as OBS, Twitch, YouTube Live, Discord, or similar technologies.

E. One year or more experience with esports and gaming hardware/software, including PCs, peripherals, networking, troubleshooting, and maintenance of esports lab or gaming equipment. Describe in your resume.

F. Demonstrated ability to mentor and support the student populations while fostering inclusion, student engagement, teamwork, and academic persistence.

G. Experience developing partnerships and/or collaborative relationships with industry, K-12 schools, community organizations, or workforce partners.

Special Working Conditions

May have to travel to other locations for tournaments.

May be required to work evenings and occasional weekends.
