Job Summary

The Associate Dean of Institutional Research provides leadership for institutional research, college-wide surveys, planning, data analysis, assessment, data governance, compliance reporting, accreditation support, and evidence-informed decision-making. The position works collaboratively with faculty, staff, administrators, district leaders, and governance groups to advance student success, institutional effectiveness, and continuous improvement. The Associate Dean of Institutional Research serves and leads multiple committees and councils across the College.

Essential Functions

25% - Supports data-informed decision making across the college with diplomacy and tact by working effectively with a wide community of faculty and staff, serving on multiple committees and shared governance bodies, and managing confidential student information with discretion.
20% - Conducts and oversees advanced statistical analysis, data collection, and research activities, including authoring and editing complex reports and documents, data visualizations, and other work products of the unit; utilizing relational databases and engaging in data extraction, including using SQL; analyzing, manipulating, and interpreting complex data to provide data-informed recommendations on function-specific and college-wide issues.
15% - Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of Institutional Research staff; recommending and/or approving staff selection and directing training and professional development; conducts performance evaluations and oversees hiring, discipline, and termination procedures.
15% - Collaborates on the development of college-wide strategies, goals and objectives; leads monitoring attainment of college-wide strategies, goals, and objectives in collaboration with college and district leaders.
15% - Champions the development and implementation of a college data literacy plan and data governance efforts.
10% - Supports student learning assessment data and evaluation efforts; Engages in higher education data reporting consistent with compliance and accreditation requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for Student Affairs or non-academic pathway: Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education or field related to area of assignment and four years of progressively responsible management and/or leadership experience in field of assignment that includes two years of supervisory experience. Examples of student affairs academic support management/leadership experience includes: program management, project management, budget development and management related to programs or projects, staff supervision, policy development, administration, evaluation and compliance. No degree equivalency.

OR

Minimum Qualifications for Academic pathway: Master's Degree in a teaching field related to area(s) of assignment and four years of experience in an academic leadership and/or supervisory role in higher education and three years of teaching that includes curriculum/coursework development. Examples of academic leadership/supervisory experience includes: division/department chair, project management, policy development, administration, evaluation and compliance, committee leadership, program director, and shared governance. No degree equivalency.

Desired Qualifications

A. Demonstrated experience supporting data-informed decision making across the college with diplomacy and tact by working effectively with a wide community of faculty and staff, serving on multiple committees and shared governance bodies, and managing confidential student information with discretion.

B. Demonstrated experience conducting and overseeing advanced statistical analysis, data collection, and research activities, including authoring and editing complex reports and documents, data visualizations, and other work products of the unit; utilizing relational databases and engaging in data extraction, including using SQL; analyzing, manipulating, and interpreting complex data to provide data-informed recommendations on function-specific and college-wide issues.

C. Demonstrated experience planning, organizing, assigning, supervising, reviewing and evaluating the work of Institutional Research staff; recommending and/or approving staff selection and directing training and professional development; conducts performance evaluations and oversees hiring, discipline, and
termination procedures.

D. Demonstrated experience collaborating on the development of college-wide strategies, goals and objectives; leading monitoring attainment of college-wide strategies, goals, and objectives in collaboration with college and district leaders.

E. Demonstrated experience championing the development and implementation of a college data literacy plan and data governance efforts.

F. Demonstrated experience supporting student learning assessment data and evaluation efforts; Engaging in higher education data reporting consistent with compliance and accreditation requirements.

G. One (1) year of full-time, relevant MCCCD experience within the previous two (2) years.

Special Working Conditions

May be required to work at multiple sites or locations. Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense. May be required to lift or carry up to 25lbs. May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time; viewing a computer monitor.
